Standing Ovation Sangiovese
Now Available!

Our 2008 First Class starts with amazing Sangiovese grapes from Stolpman and their natural vibrancy, hint of spice, and bright red fruit.  Then we blended in one of Napa’s best Cabernets from Ink Grade and its silky tannins, subtle oak, and luscious dark fruit.  The resulting wine exhibits the warmth and richness of the great Sangiovese based wines from Tuscany with the complexity, vibrancy and flavors of a new world style California wine.

Vineyard:  Primarily Stolpman Sangiovese from Santa Barbara AVA with some Cabernet Sauvignon from Inkgrade Vineyard in the Napa Valley AVA.

Blend: 88% Sangiovese, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Winemaking:  Hand-sorted, 100% de-stemmed; Aged over 16 months in 100% French Oak, 33% New; Coopers Francois Frères, Allier – Medium Plus toast.

Wine Composition:  pH: 3.7; TA: 0.66; Alcohol 14.9%; VA : 0.59

Production:  25 cases / 300 bottles; bottled on February 19, 2010; released on November 18, 2010.

Show-stopping pairings:  This sangiovese-blend, with its balanced acidity and tannins pairs great with simpler, rustic dishes, particularly those that are grilled or roasted.  It also stands up well to robust flavors – like garlic, onions, olives, country beans, tomatoes – the essence of Italian country cooking. Veal-stuffed Manicotti with Roasted Yellow Pepper Pesto or Smoked Sausage & White Bean Soup should bring down the house.
